"Some good 48 hour rainfall totals for the west of the region, with Takaka (neighbouring town) receiving 537mm, and Paradise (hill station 34km from Takaka) getting 817mm for the same period. Drier to the east with Nelson receiving 237mm, and Maitai Forks (hill station 7km from Nelson) on 493mm. Motueka in the middle missed out on most of the rain with 154mm, although Canaan (hill station 12km from Motueka) received 599mm in that 48 hour period"
